X3374 BATTERIES IN COMBINATION WITH C.A.V. DYNAMO X802 X664

During the last two weeks I have had an opportunity of testing two separate cars fitted as above.

On my first test of this combination I was rather surprised to find the fact of using the Klaxon Horn reduced the strength of the light, evidently reducing the voltage.

This is a point that I have particularly noticed as being quite satisfactory when using the ordinary C.A.V. batteries, as I have rather expected that such would happen and have, therefore, looked out for it.

Again, I notice that the fact of switching on and off the dynamo, i.e. the fact as to whether the batteries are charging or discharging, also causes difference in the strength of the light, i.e. variation in the voltage.

The first point is one which may be overcome by having larger capacity cells, which would, of course, mean increased weight - the second point however, may be rather serious as regards lamp filaments, etc.

But for the above the lighting equipment was quite satisfactory and I have no doubt, from experience I have had, that the cells would be considerably more reliable and less likely to give trouble for all round running.
