1204 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}9/R.3.1.39. With reference to the attached letter from Oy., we cannot find any case where "Incolap" is used on production or in the Experimental Dept. The present best-known method of finishing splines is by grinding internally and externally. Internal grinding is being carried out by the Birmingham Gear Grinding Co. "Incolap" was tried when the spur reduction gear was first introduced on the aero engine, but it was a very crude piece of apparatus, the gear being run in a cast iron lap on a drilling machine.
