RE: LOW TEMPERATURE FLOW TEST ON BIJUR OILS We have made flow tests on the new Mobiloil A and three types of Bijur oils, in the bottles supplied by Mr. Bijur, with the following results: Temperature of Oils at time of test 5°F: Time to flow in seconds: Mobiloil A----------------37 secs. Bijur #130 ----------------48 secs. Bijur Mod. Heavy ----------102 secs. Bijur #1------------------127 secs. The comparative characteristics of Mobiloil A, old and new, are as follows: Old New Viscosity 100°F ------- 567 secs. 740 secs. " 210°F ------- 62 secs. 62 secs. Flash ----------------- 378°F 398°F Fire ------------------ 430°F 448°F Cold Test ------------- 17°F 2°F In making the flow test, small glass bottles, 4" high x 1-5/8" square, are half filled with oil. They are put in the Frigidaire and left until the oil comes uniformly to the required temperature, preferably overnight. The bottles are then tipped on one side and the time required for the oil to flow to the end of the bottle noted. This time is recorded as the "flow" value. This value will vary of course with different bottles. R.J. Allen FLOW TIME | ||
