Mr Wormald Recd. 9/3/12. COPY Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence. 5th March 1912. S.D. and Technical Committee. RECEIVED Notes on Transmission. Our transmission must always be kept in the very best alignment, that is, no unnecessary work done in universal joints. Every effort should be made, especially with our system, to keep the torque rod as long as possible, to avoid the error in motion caused by the relative rise and fall of the motor compared with the axle. When considering any serious change in the arrange-ment of the transmission an endeavour should be made to fix the gear box on the front end of the torque rod (or tube) but not on the back axle.
