2nd SpectreCodename for Phantom III (31-EX). Appearance.
---------------------------------

The second SpectreCodename for Phantom III chassis, the body for which will be completed in a few days, has an improved frontal appearance in accordance with the following schemes:-

Higher Radiator - LeC.4179.
Higher Dashboard- LeC.4189.
Starting Handle etc.- LeC.4192.
Lamps and Wing Stays.- LeC.4178.

An inspection of the mock up at Park Ward's has shown that an improvement in appearance can be achieved by moving the head lamps further apart and further back than is shown on LeC.4178. We are busy on a scheme for this and we should like it incorporated in the second car. The scheme will be completed very shortly.

With regard to the radiator grille, an opinion has been expressed that the appearance would be better if radiator shutters were used in place of the grille; in order to settle this point we should like you to make up for the second car, (in addition to the grille) a detachable front fluted exactly like the grille but omitting all the perforations. This will give the appearance of shutters when closed and will enable a comparison to be made on this car.

We should be glad if you could push these features on as quickly as possible because the front end dimensions of the future SpectreCodename for Phantom III chassis are dependent upon the result of this experiment.
