We have made a preliminary investigation of the fitting of this box to the 4 cyl. 75 m.m. bore engine for Rippletto. To use the box unaltered would necessitate a new clutch bell housing whereas if we make a new 1st. motion shaft we could use a B/60 clutch bell housing and clutch operation with only slight modifications. We are investigating the strength of the gears and shafts in the box, but it does seem essential even for an experiment that the 1st. motion shaft should be capable of the maximum input torque. At the same time alternations will be necessary to the magnet poles and windings. With respect to the column control we have no particulars of this and would be glad if drawings of the control head and also arrangement drawings showing the mechanical linkage could be obtained from Messrs. Wolseley's. Our information is not complete but it would appear that whilst 4 reverse speeds are available there is a type of cut out switch which eliminates all the unnecessary gears.
