Stromberg Carburetter D.C. 42.

A list of improvements required on the above carburetter are as follows.

These suggestions were agreed upon by Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} and Mr. Fisher, Stromberg representative, at a recent meeting, in order to clean up complaints. Some of these are already in hand at the Design Office.

(1) P.16978 Plug for metering jet, converted to hexagon head instead of slot, and fitted with aluminium washer.

(2) L.726 Float fulcrum screw converted to hexagon head and fitted with alum. washer also.

(3) Float chamber cover to be sealed after final test by R.R. Ltd.
P.2266 Centre screw to be lengthened, head and shank, drilled at each end to receive sealing wire. No alteration to castings.

(4) L.722 Pump link to be made a better fit and split pin increased to 1/16" dia.

(5) Choke valve torsional spring to give increased loading.

(6) Carburetter body to be strengthened at junction of air intake to avoid distortion.

(7) Reduce load of spring on ball valve restriction at base of accelerator pump from 9 grms. to 5/6 grms.

(8) Increase of main jet to .064".

(9) E.83210 Spring to be fitted to thermostat on all 30 HP's retrospectively. This is now standardised on production 'M' series.

(10) Ball end on choke control lever to be increased in length from lever.

Points 5, 7 & 8 have yet to be tested.
