X7430 BY5/G.26.11.28. R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} STEERING POSITIONS. Referring to R2/M21.11.28. which is apparently the result of Sales suggesting new nomenclature for the steering positions, we pointed out to Sales that the steering positions themselves have not been altered dimensionally, and therefore no confusion should arise if we maintain the original letters for the 'C' and 'D' positions, introducing 'E' for the one entirely new position. They agreed to this proposal, and it seems to us to clear up the position. We are afraid that the introduction of new lettering for seating positions, which have not been actually modified dimensionally, would undoubtedly result in confusion and mistakes being made, whereas this would not apparently occur if the old nomenclature is maintained. Please wire if you agree, as Sales are anxious to pass out to coachbuilders chassis prints they actually hold at the moment marked up with the old nomenclature. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
