20/25HP Carburetter with External Balance Pipe to Floatchamber.

The carburetter fitted with the above scheme was handed to us several days ago.

We have tried the carburetter on a Production Chassis using a measured gallon of fuel over our standard test route, we obtained a petrol consumption of 14.7 miles per gallon. A further test was made using 3 galls. of fuel when we obtained a petrol consumption of 14.9 m.p.g. These tests were carried out at speeds of 35 to 45 miles per hour.

This result is an improvement on the average petrol consumption of this type of carburetter without the external balance pipe. Over the same route the result with the standard carburetter is about 13.6 m.p.g.

As the main object of this modification is to overcome the "luffing" trouble experienced with a large percentage of this type of carburetter, we have fitted the parts to a bad "luffer" - a complete cure was effected.
