Various tests have been carried out on this unit and it has now been found possible to line up with results obtained by Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}/CHP within 1% The programme outlined in Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Ed{J. L. Edwards}8/AP.29.12.36 will now be followed through, slightly modified, and work for the week ending Saturday 20th February 1937 will be approximately as under:- Work to be done. Time. The standard Bentley Unit is now in position and several check tests will be carried out on this to obtain absolutely reliable standards of comparison. 1 1/2 days. SHOP. Unit to be re-built as high power engine using No. 2 head RS{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary} 314. A new push rod will be required for this. Check curves to be run on power and detonation. 1 1/2 days. SHOP. Remove No. 2 head for modification to LeC 5422, and fit No. 1 head (LeC 4075) in its place. Run power and detonation curves. 1 1/2 days. Now that the major job of lining up has been satisfactorily concluded, it is proposed to issue each week programmes similar to the above, so that the work may continue smoothly.
