Toledo Woodhead Springs Ltd.,
Toledo Spring Works,
SHEFFIELD.1.

For the attention of Mr. Woodhead.

Dear Sirs,

We have received your letter and note that you will shortly be carrying out tests to obtain information about spring creaks. We should be very grateful if you could manage to test a spring shackle at the same time. We are despatching this shackle under a separate cover. We are sending this shackle in the form in which it is normally used because, as the writer has not seen your testing machine, it would appear to be most satisfactory for you to adapt it as required. All that is necessary for the purpose of the test is for one of the bushes to be pressed into the spring and the other bushes to be pressed into the supporting bracket. It if is necessary the distance between the centres of the bushes may be increased up to 2 inches.

Yours faithfully,
FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
