TBB14/L20512. May 20th. 1912. Mr Royce Mr Johnson. Re Cotton Belting Cone Clutches. These clutches are still giving satisfaction and as you are aware have been made standard. With reference to the 3/16" material, we have issued a standing order to the Repair Shop for this to be fitted instead of the 1/4" thick material in all cases where clutches have to be repaired or replaced. We have on test with this thin material, a clutch cone in which the aluminium has been slightly recessed at the rivet holes. Up to the present date this has given satisfaction. The only slight difficulty we can discover with either of these materials is (as reported in the Minutes) that the edges fray rather badly. We have discovered no ill effects from this, but its appearance is untidy. Mr Platford is testing a cone with the edges of the material treated with shellac. 2/RX | ||
