Man ROLLS-ROYCE HOSPITAL FUND ASSOCIATION 1204 MANOR HOUSE HOSPITAL What is it doing for our members ? Here is a typical example of the work being done :- Copy of letter from Mrs.Booth to Mr. & Mrs.Constant : My dear Friends, Well! it is all over. Bill was operated on last Friday and a very severe one it was. He is picking up very gradually, but looks terribly knocked about, naturally. I believe the whole of the medical staff are proud of him, as he has visitors of the above from other wards. There were five Doctors for the op. (one from Harley Street). We would like to try and say how grateful we are for all that is being done for him - medically, service, food, cooking, &c., but this is past all one's ability to do so. I might try when I see you but it is impossible on paper. The constant attention is too touching. I've never longed so much in my life to put my hand on a great amount of money as I do now. It would soon be converted to Manor House Hospital. I saw Mr.Linkhorn (the Secretary) and he said I was to apply to him for anything I wanted - didn't matter what it was. I really felt that topped the lot. I understood before I came that everything would be done for us, but didn't realise how every little wish was considered. Well, my dears, I can't say much more only thank you both for your past kindness and unstinted efforts to procure Bill's admittance to the most wonderful Hospital in the world. We all join in this. * * * 19/7/1940. | ||
