YOUR REF. 2nd October, 1935. W.A. ROBOTHAM, ESQ., Experimental Department, Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., D E R B Y. Dear Robotham, Many thanks for your letter of the 1st October. I shall be delighted if you and your wife will lunch with us on the 22nd October. Shall we say 1 o'clock at my house? I shall expect you then unless I hear from you to the contrary and in case we do not meet at the Show before that day. I am very much obliged for your remarks regarding the fitment of India tyres to the "Phantom 111" as Original Equipment. I have this afternoon had an interview with Mr. Sidgreaves, and he has not yet come to a definite decision on the subject. He is I think duly impressed with the recommendation from Derby. On the other hand I think London are entirely pro-Dunlop, and have gone so far as to have all the catalogues printed stating that the tyre equipment is 7.00-18 Dunlop! Mr. Sidgreaves, however, was extremely nice about it and promised to consider the matter most carefully to see what could be done. I am still full of hope that India may be O.E. on the chassis after all; and will, of course, immediately advise you when I hear further from Mr. Sidgreaves, although no doubt you will have heard before I do. I am also most grateful for your suggestion that we should keep several sets of 7.00-18 tyres in London in case they wish to demonstrate on them, and I will see the tyres are available. Again, many thanks; and much looking forward to seeing you on the 22nd. Yours sincerely, Rothes- | ||
