We have tried out half a dozen of the modified servo gears which I believe you tried a few of early on, namely, an increased worm reduction with almost equal ratio spur gears. The whole six we have tried out have given complete satisfaction, whereas we constantly have trouble from the basis of noise, with the present combination of small pinion and large wheel in the spurs. The gears are so near the ultimate interference point that we are constantly over-stepping the mark on one chassis or another, which causes continual discussion between ourselves and The Gear Grinding Company. If you will agree, I propose for D.2. to adopt the improved method of keeping the same reduction ratio, namely, more reduction in the worm gear and less in the spurs. BY.{R.W.
