When the engine is stopped we feel there is more possibility of this scheme retaining the oil that runs down and allowing it to penetrate to the inner spindle than with the vertically slotted sleeve.

We also attach a print of LeC.3394 showing the advance curves determined for Peregrine. The curves are flatter than originally provided for on the governor and it is therefore proposed to use the last 22º of stroke on the governor weights to provide 11º of advance on the L.I. cam in combination with the spring mentioned in note 'A'.

Spring 'A' is preferred to the heavier gauge spring mentioned in note 'B' since it will be easier to produce and we do not think the slight amount of advance it possesses above the line giving the minimum advance for maximum power will be any disadvantage.
