-6- Costs. According to material cost received, the £950 car appears a possibility, from the "material" point of view, but we require the agreed man/hour labour times, based on "normal" conditions, in order to determine whether the £950 car - material and labour is a possibility. We assume the £950 car is still the goal aimed at. High Power Engine Units (Cast Iron) as referred to in Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/R.26.10.38. The second 6 cyl. engine is being fitted in a Wraith frame. The third 6 cyl. engine will be completed in about fourteen days. The 8 cyl. engine will be ready by Christmas providing the delay of patterns from outside is not continued. 5-Litre-6 Cyl. design complete and detailed ready for instructing. We hesitate to start work as we should prefer to achieve same results by attention to body. New engine represents 15% more power and the weight would be approx. the same as B.111. Improvement in acceleration will be the same as between the 3½ & 4½ litre, but the max. speed would not be increased. [Handwritten: 6 CAST-IRON] Alum.Straight 8, Design in hand but no details produced. 50 hours completed successfully with dry liners on Single Cyl. Unit. [Handwritten: 2 ALUM] | ||
