From the Rolls-Royce experimental archive: a quarter of a million communications from Rolls-Royce, 1906 to 1960's. Documents from the Sir Henry Royce Memorial Foundation (SHRMF).
Clarifying that a voltmeter was fitted to a 40/50 chassis for experimental purposes only, not as standard equipment.

RE WESTON VOLTMETER.

With reference to your memo. to R.{Sir Henry Royce} Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}3/NJ13.3.22.

I do not believe that Mr. Royce contemplated fitting a voltmeter to the 40/50 chassis as part of the standard electrical equipment, but that he had this fitted to the car he was using for experimental observation of the battery.
