The attached note from Springfield to Mr. Belnap shows:-

Mr. Royce now suggests.
1. Petrol Jet arrangement.
2. with moving choke.
3. Vaporiser pipe.
4. Louvres to radiators.
5. Exhaust heated throttle.

Springfield now states.
Agrees.

Agrees.
See below.

No final drawings or models of exhaust heated throttle had been received by America, they had therefore not tried it.

America had only received an early outline of the scheme from R.{Sir Henry Royce}

America had understood from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}'s letters difficulties had been met with when made experimentally. Derby was trying to correct these and therefore the device is still experimental and not ready for adoption.

America therefore propose to go ahead with 1, 2, 3 4 and omit 5, as they believe starting will be possible for the present with 5, though not perfect.

America hope Derby will continue to experiment as quickly as possible in order to produce a perfectly satisfactory design.

Mr. Belnap was able to settle the matter on his return to Springfield immediately after my departure from America and he will write us.

The cable mentioned in the attached letter was therefore not sent.
