S/W. {Sales / Derby Works} Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X235 CWB8/GM/9-6-26. HS {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 10 JUN 1926 RECEIVED Re: 20 h.p. Chassis 1644. 10,000 mile test. Hydraulic shock absorbers. A question has been raised by BJ. as to the necessity of our incurring the extra expense of the hydraulic shock absorbers for the front axle of our 20 h.p. chassis. For this reason, in order to enable PM and myself to advise him on this matter, it has been decided to carry out a series of tests on the above chassis, fitted with 1. Our present standard shock absorber. 2. Our proposed hydraulic shock absorber. Will you therefore in fitting the hydraulic absorbers arrange to leave the necessary holes, fastenings, bolts etc., for the present standard shock absorber and to return these to us with the car, so that we can change over from one to the other as required. At the same time it would be of assistance if you could indicate in what respects you consider the hydraulic shock absorbers to be of advantage and if such be the case, in what respects it may possess/disadvantages to our present standard.
