| To R. {Sir Henry Royce} from EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} c. to CJ. c. to Bn. {W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} c. to Da. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} X.1413. EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 4/T24.5.19. LUCAS JUNCTION BOX. X.3564 X.3558 X.3014 X.3344 X.3560 Further to our EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 8/T22.5.19., we are now sending you a blueprint of N scheme 69 shewing in detail the junction box obtained from Messrs. Lucas. It is our desire to use this junction box in conjunction with the Lucas switchboard on as many cars as the Lucas switchboard. We think that this particular box is very suitable for the purpose. In this case we should not use the temporary distributing board shewn on LeC.1089 but should proceed immediately with a complete scheme as also shewn on that drawing. We have just cursorily examined this, and although we will probably write further regarding this, there are just two points we would like to mention at the moment. 1. For the main charging switch, it is necessary to have an additional contact, that is to say, to make joint between three points simultaneously, so that when the charging switch is off, the field circuit of the dynamo is also disconnected. In case we use the Lucas dynamo with out own distributor and switchboard, it would be desirable to have yet another contact, so that the control winding may be open circuited when the main charging switch is put in the off position; this is not absolutely necessary however. Messrs. Lucas are providing these 4 contacts on their new board, although on their previous board they only provided 3. Contd. | ||
