For the attention of Mr. Barker.

Dear Sirs,

We do not seem to be yet out of trouble with clutch spin on the Phantom III, due to excessive cushioning and run out of the driven plates. We should like an early opportunity of discussing this matter further, and would like you to come over to our Works to-morrow if you can arrange to do so. If you cannot get away perhaps you will 'phone or send a wire and the writer will visit you; otherwise we shall expect you to-morrow morning.

A second point which we should like to discuss is in connection with the 10" clutch. We have here two clutches which jaggered badly in motor cars, and we have discovered that in these two cases when the pressure plate is withdrawn from the driven plate, it does not remain parallel to the flywheel. We are inclined to think that the jaggers are due to this, which may be caused by the operating fingers not all contacting the release bearing simultaneously.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
