Dear Sir,
I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 7th inst. and have duly noted your remarks with regard to certain internal modifications permissible on cars entered for the Tourist Trophy Race, 1934.
The items you enumerate, namely, change of gearbox ratios, change of rear axle ratios, modified cam shaft, modified pistons, modified valves and increase of compression ratio all come under the heading of "Internal alterations of existing components of the chassis" and are, therefore, quite permissible.
It must be borne in mind, however, that the system upon which a component operates must not be altered; for example, a roller bearing must not be substituted for a plain bearing or vice versa.
Yours faithfully,
F.P. Armstrong
SECRETARY.
