Customer objection about brake servo assistance and the risks of improper adjustment.

One objection to the chain has been that if the customer does not adjust his brakes he will find that he will not get servo assistance until he has run several yards when he is shunting. In view of the fact that the Bentley can be held on the foot brake on any incline less severe than about 1 in 10, the driver is unlikely to do himself much damage under these circumstances. If, however, the first indication which he gets when his brakes need adjustment is when he is driving at high speeds such as those indicated in the first part of this memo., a fatal accident would be likely to eventuate.
