Frame Jellying. This problem was discussed again at some length, both as regards a cure that can be applied to present chassis and as regards the lines for future design. From our present experiments we have two lines which promise to be useful. These are:- (1) Additional cross-members in the front of the frame, and (2) Securing the dampers for the front axle to the engine feet. This brings the mass of the engine into use and reduces the cause of the trouble by better damping on the axle. It also improves the engine from a torque reaction point of view. The cross members, N.Schemes 3040 and 3076 are being produced as rapidly as possible for further test. Rear Axle Failure on 10,000 Miles Test. This question was discussed and will be gone into in greater detail before the next meeting. Battery Recharging Capacity. E's scheme, increasing the dynamo output when the headlamps are in use, was gone over and considered to be a very practical scheme. The features as regards the alterations to the dynamo, the switch box and the distribution board were examined. It was decided that this scheme should be fitted to 23-EX which will be starting 10,000 miles test at the end of this month. Rg.{Mr Rowledge} | ||
