Continuation Sheet No. 2. From F.{Mr Friese} M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Aspin & Co. Ltd., Bury. 6th. April, 1940. W.A. Robotham, Esq., Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. which we obtained in the gas engine. This is definitely on account of the engine being a mock-up job and suffering from a considerable amount of friction which would not be present if the engine was designed from the bottom up. It was certainly not due to the power required to drive the rotar, as it is still very much present when the cylinder head is taken completely off. However, we do not put this engine forward as a shining example of what an engine should be, but just to show what can be done to a 6 h.p. industrial gas engine with one of our heads built on it. We reduced the fuel consumption from 25 c.ft/HP per h.p. hour down to practically 18 c.ft per h.p. hour and since then we have had some readings from lean mixture of nearly 16½ c.ft per h.p. hour. Should you require any further information, I will do my best to supply you with same. We are looking forward to doing some work on one of your engines at an early date, and in the meantime, I remain. Yours sincerely, F.M. Aspin | ||
