RE. FITTING OF THIN LEAF SPRINGS AND FRICTION DEVICE TO THE STEERING PIVOTS ON ALL AMERICAN CARS.

We attach for your information copy of memo. we have received from Mr. Johnson, to which is attached copy of Mr. Royce's instructions on this matter.

I understand that you have already telegraphed to America with regard to the springs and the friction device.

We have already given to Rd. the necessary details to enable him to send a complete estimate to CJ. of the cost of this work, which Mr. Johnson requires.

This estimate will be based on the cost of springs and the cost of manufacturing the parts for the friction device in England, although we understand that these parts will be procured or manufactured in America, and of course we do not know at what price the parts will be purchased or made there.

This fact should be pointed out to Mr. Johnson when submitting the estimate.

I also understand from you this morning that you are now giving instructions to the works for these alterations to be made as soon as possible on all cars which are to be sent to America.

EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}
