BENTLEY.

Rubber Covered Metal Floorboards.

We have tested a set of these floorboards out on 3-B-IV and while we are satisfied that they have improved body booms on the forward speeds, we cannot say that the retard boom are greatly affected.

The amount of improvement is noticeable, especially when running at 3,100 R.P.M, this car's worst booming speed.

We do think that these metal rubber covered floorboards would be an advantage, in the fact that they would remain more rigid and constant, and less likely to be affected by the heat. The metal boards are sprayed with asbestos on the underside.

A further advantage is a saving in weight of 6 lbs. per set.

We have a set of these metal floorboards in hand with double foot wells. From this set we hope to obtain much better results, as the set we tried on 3-B-IV were made originally for another chassis and we had to adapt them to suit 3-B-IV.

A further report on the boards fitted with double foot wells will follow later.
