34-JS.{Mr Johnson's Secretary} - comp. del. 18.1.32.
Sports Saloon, Mulliner Northampton.

In answer to the above owner's telephone call, I met him at the above address, on his arrival from Weybridge yesterday, as he had complained of the self-starter refusing to turn the engine when cold.

When I met him, he started reeling off a list of items including the following :

1.Steering - this still joggles at speed.

2.Self-starter not functioning, as stated above.

3.Brake thump. - he thought due to the servo motor.

4.Various squeaks and rattles.

As he was only allowing us half-a-day to go into these various points, I suggested to him that we should attend to the self-starter, and if it were convenient to him leave the rest until he took the car to Derby, where I gather he will leave it for about a week before going to America, for a general look-over. He agreed.

He said that when he takes the car to W. he will have a chat to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} about it.

I then took the car to N. and had the battery tested. It was found that one of the cells was faulty. While there I had the front wheels balanced and the tire pressures which were at 27 lbs put up to 40. The front hydraulic shock absorbers were also in need of oil and these were put to their correct levels. After the above attention, I went on to Exide where I had the battery changed. This, I think, was the cause of his starter failure.
