RE BRAKE TESTS. X3764 X3422 X94us

Attached herewith are two prints which show the bedding of an ineffective footbrake and a very effective brake on the rear of the 40/50.

We have for a considerable time received complaints of ineffective footbrakes. We are confident that the ineffectiveness is caused by the bedding of the shoes not allowing the wrapping action to take effect.

In the two examples shown, in one case with all the pressure that is possible to exert on the brake, the rear wheels could not be locked. In the other case the lightest pressure would lock the wheels. The wrapping action on the 40/50 brake with the flexible shoe is more apparent than any of the brakes where we use the stiff aluminium shoe.

We cannot emphasize too much the remarkable difference which can be made by the bedding of the brakes. A brake which beds first on the non-wrapping shoe is always ineffective.
