W/S. To F.from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} x2061 E.3/HP.28.3.34. re Campbell Gearbox. I am returning herewith the papers in connection with the above together with memo HDY.{William Hardy}2/HP.24.3.34, from which you will see that this gearbox does not really offer us anything of interest. It appears to be merely a constant mesh box without a top gear having a dog clutch change, and I think if we wanted such a system we would carry it out in a way which would be more mechanically reliable than proposed in the Campbell scheme.
