To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} (Chateauroux). c. to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} (Cricklewood). 6-B-IV - Clutch. We are to-day sending out to you a driven plate faced with Ferodo 'No.6' and a set of stronger clutch springs. Will you please fit the plate to 6-B-IV as soon as possible as we want to get some mileage on the new facings. We think the transmission rattles during take-up will be improved with this plate. We consider that the existing thrust springs (painted green) will be strong enough, and want you to leave these in at first. If they are not, however, you will have to fit the cream ones we are sending out. If you have to do so, be very careful to mark all the pieces of the clutch before dismantling, or otherwise the operating fingers will probably be out of adjustment when you build it up again. The position of the pressure plate in the cover should be marked, and the finger, eyebolt, nut and knife edge corresponding to each withdrawal bracket. The finger setting should be checked afterwards, to ensure that they all contact the trunnion release face simultaneously. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/F.Ll.Smith. | ||
