To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to CJ. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} X3587 R3/M31.1.23. BIJUR STARTER DRIVE. X. 3587. In reply to your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}4/LG29.1.23., it is no scheme at all which fails with a few drops of oil. Can you reproduce the fault with such treatment? I am not sure that the Bijur is more silent than the Bendix. The Bendix I understand cannot be made to fail, and our superior design should not break. Therefore, if you find the Bijur unreliable, had not we better go back to the Bendix? On Seagull, we are fitting our own scheme like on the 40/50, or better. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
