- 2 - Mr. Allen informs us now, it is possible to run nitralloy gears and pinions together. From our experience we believe these can be made without appreciable distortion and tremendously hard. These however, are not being pushed for the present. We shall of course retain the existing CHNS for the dog clutch parts. (b) We are taking care of alignment of gears as on Drwg. A-15052 attached - this we believe is self explanatory. Having taken the end thrust of the helical C.M. gears off the front side shaft bearing, we figure we are able to replace this by 310 bearing used on the front of the 1st M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Shaft. (c) We are cutting back every alternate tooth in the carrier A-13693, 1st M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Shaft A-13685 and sliding coupling A-13694 (both ends) from this we anticipate getting improved gear shifting that we are looking for. It may even be necessary to carry this further and cut back two out of every three teeth like Pearson does. I attach herewith, copies of my memos Btn-1 and 2 of Oct. 23rd last, which I had proposed holding for your return. Btn. RBB-M | ||
