To Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R. {Sir Henry Royce} c. to CJ. X4264 R5/G16.11.21. X.4264 - RE GOSHAWK 11. STEERING JOINTS. We have been examining the steering joints for the Goshawk. We should be glad to know whether you consider those fitted to the first chassis are entirely satisfactory as arranged with the single split. Do you also consider that the joints on the longitudinal tube are also satisfactory? You will remember that I pointed out that I thought the ball bearings on the steering column were fitted with twoo small balls. I am very anxious to see the effect of the stiffer dashboard as regards supporting the steering column and whether it can be considered satisfactory without alteration.
