We think that on the redesigned J.III. the timing case could be made into quite an efficient oil cooler, and we are conducting some tests on the Bentley to see what can be gained by putting the largest quantity of oil possible through the timing case and increasing the radiating capacity of the cover.

To get an exact comparison between the Bentley engine and the Peregrine we carried out some careful heat to the oil tests under as nearly as possible the same conditions - these are shown on Curve 3.
