Complaints of a serious and dangerous wheel wobble on new designs, analysing its out-of-balance causes.

We have had complaints from our own drivers in France particularly, who are making tests in connection with our new designs, and their reports are that the wobble is of a very serious nature and distinctly dangerous.

We should therefore like to know what you propose to do in the immediate future to correct this fault, and would like to have some reason as to why, when we had corrected this matter once, it should slide into manufacture again without us being notified.

The matter is so important from our point of view that we do not feel disposed to continue buying tubes of this description a moment longer than is absolutely necessary to keep going, and therefore would like to know when you could correct it, when stocks will be ready, and what arrangements can be made for us to deal with the matter with our customers.

We of course appreciate the fact that the slotted loose flange is itself a slight cause of out-of-balance, but we always arrange the position of the slot relative to the valve to reduce this to a minimum.

Analysing the out-of-balance effects, we find that approximately four ounces is in the cover itself. The wheels themselves are accurate.

The total out-of-balance is therefore made up of four ounces on the tyres, eight ounces on the inner tubes.
