X9410 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}9/LG6.10.24. 40/50 HP. CHASSIS - FRONT SPRINGS. X2628 X9410 With reference to your BY1/H3.10.24. We suggest that a copy of this memo. is sent to Sales Dept. R's first recommendation for 25% springs, even although Sales signed the standardisation sheet, was rejected by them, and R.{Sir Henry Royce} agreed that the change was necessary. We recommend that the position is clearly put to Sales. Another reason why we think this is important is because when I was at W.W. last week, the question came up that on light open cars we should have no alternative whether they were running in England or France, but to fit 20% stiffer springs. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} suggested that they should increase the range of poundages with the present front springs - so evidently he is not very clear on the matter. Attached herewith is a note which we have received from BJ. It will be seen that he is against the 20% springs. Please return this memo. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
