CARBURETTER MIXTURE CONTROL. X.8240
X.8080.

Referring to the above we send you herewith drawings No.LeC.1931., and 1934.

The former shews the mixture control gear proposed on the carburetter side of the engine, and the latter the mixture control on the steering box side, to comply with the schemes made for operaitng through the steering column.

You will noticed that we are using a solid shaft passing through the existing throttle control shaft in the crankcase.

It will be understood that Mr. Royce has not seen these two schemes as yet, but they have worked out on quite good simple lines, and we do not think therefore there is much risk in proceeding with them until such time as we can get them officially passed.

The only doubtful feature we were concerned with was the stiffness of the quarter shaft in torsion passing through the crankcase, but we reckon that this piece of shafting is really better than the long 5/16" tube which passes down the length of the steering column, and furthermore the load to be transmitted should be very light.

We think that you should proceed with these designs immediately and we will let you have any criticisms Mr.Royce may make in due course.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
