SpectreCodename for Phantom III Gearbox.

With reference to the difficulty in assembling the gearbox in the frame, there is no doubt that this is due to the brackets for the front suspension having been placed on the front face of the cross instead of the rear face, as is shown by N. Sch.4020, where it can be seen that the bracket is on the opposite side of the centre of the arm from the small boss on the arm, and therefore must be on the inside.

When the brackets are on the inside they can be assembled in the gearbox arms before the box is placed in the car.

As the brackets hold the centre of the arms exactly in the centre of the arm of the cross they can be changed round without difficulty unless they are of the type subsequently to be used, in which the angle of the transmission is incorporated in the bracket.

Would BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} kindly check that these latter brackets are arranged to go on the inside faces.
