To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to War. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/MJ.14.7.30. SECOND LEFT-HAND CHASSIS 25-EX. Replying to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}23/Es.7.30. We shall be taking this car to W.W. tomorrow in order to get R's approval of the radiator, dashboard, bonnet, and instrument board. On the way back on Thursday we are meeting Rn.{Mr Robinson} at Brooklands, and will test the car on the track. The worst feature on the car is a very bad 'boom' at 60 M.P.H. We could not possibly demonstrate the car until this has been greatly improved. We believe the 'boom' at 60 M.P.H. is objectionable on a number of Phantom ll cars. From tests on our experimental cars, we think we could overcome this 'boom' with a modified engine mounting. This point we shall discuss with R.{Sir Henry Royce} As regards the over-heating problem. Rn.{Mr Robinson} is carrying out/tests on Brooklands and as a result of these tests we may require to make modifications to 25-EX. The test in France has been held up owing to the complete failure of the exhaust system. We have heard from Hancock that he has been to Paris and has fixed up a temporary exhaust system to keep the car running. A set of the present standard parts is being despatched to him today. When the car is running again we intend to go over | ||
