To Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}, from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X4075 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}7/LG30.1.23. X4075 GOSHAWK WIRING. We should very much like to have your comments on the wiring arrangement on 5-Goshawk-11. The chief alteration in this scheme is that we use the push type fittings instead of the screwed fittings. The arrangement has also been altered so that all the tubes are practically straight. There are many less bent tubes than the present arrangement. On 5-Goshawk-11 we have built up some of the junctions but on production cars it is proposed to use aluminium castings. The point we are not satisfied with is the connections from the battery box. We think the arrangement on the present cars is very crude where we clip the wires to the side of the box with a bent sheet aluminium clip fixed by wood screws. We also do not care much for the present arrangement of the earthing wire being fixed to the bolt holding the front end of the battery box. We think the earthed terminal is sufficiently important to justify having a separate connections, and if possible, direct on to the frame. We suggest also it would be better if we modified the moulded terminal box so that the wire came away at 90º. This would avoid an unnecessary bend in the big cable. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
