Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} - ORIGINAL X 8530 ROLLS ROYCE LTD. "CAMACHAHenry Royce's office in West Wittering". WEST WITTERINGHenry Royce's home town. NR. CHICHESTER. SUSSEX. April 30th 1926. X8530 Messrs E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Dent & Sons. 28, Cockspur Street, London. S.W.1. Dear Sirs, You will recall that in December last you supplied us with a set of dials for the instruments of the car which Mr Royce has been using in France this season. We were very pleased with the result obtained and wish to fit up another set and have asked our works to supply you with the following parts:- Frame, glass, mount etc. A.T. speedometer with special trip gear to suit patch. Weston ammeter. A.T. clock. Oil gauge. Thermometer. As soon as the instruments arrive we would be glad if you could put in hand a set of dials like those we have had for Mr Royce. We would be also interested to hear whether you have any suggestions to make about producing such dials at say ten to fifteen sets per week for the sake of argument. Could the figures be put on by transfer so as to avoid the hand labour? Also could we hope for any reduction in cost on these lines. We thank you for the help that you have given us in this matter and we hope that it may lead us to still better results. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS ROYCE LTD. Coachwork Engineer.
