this at the expense of a slight alteration to the cutting in point, which makes the output curve not quite comply with our specified performance, the extent of non-compliance being shown on the accompanying photostat sheet of output curve, copy of which is attached to R's copy of this report.
We have also roughly drawn an average output curve of previous Smith 2D machines.
The quantity price of these dynamos with all the minor improvements required by R.R. is £19.10.0. Weight 34 lbs.
The dynamo has output characteristics mostly suited to the 40/50 R.R. car of any dynamo we know.
We are writing to Messrs. Smith mentioning the minor points point about the nuts amongst other/and also pointing out that the output curve is not now in accordance with our specification. During the visit of their representatives to us a few days ago, these points were shown to them and they stated that they were of the opinion they would be able to overcome these entirely in the next machine, without introducing noise in the case of the alteration to cutting in point.
A heating test of this machine at 9 amperes at 14.6 volts is being taken, after which it is proposed - replacing one of the old Smith 2D machines on experimental car with this newer machine.
