[Handwritten top center] 1245 noted, thank you AL 1245 [Typed top left] To Rolls-Royce Ltd. Derby......... Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} [Handwritten top right] Levallois Sr.4/ET.15.3.40 [Handwritten below recipient] A.A. Please note [Circled] Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} [Typed body] Dear Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}, I am very sorry not to have answered your memo Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/MH.{M. Huckerby}22.I.40 before, but I gave it to Vic and Don Allen to peruse and Vic sat on it and has only just hatched out his answer, which incidentally coincides with my suggestions! The only question we have been asked to deal with is the Continental spare part kit. First of all let me tell you that I heartily agree with your idea of giving the Continental owner or tourer a special kit of tools, which he pays for and hands back after his trip. I presume that these tools, in the case of a French or Continental owner, will be part and parcel of the car, even if the sales price has to be increased by whatever figure has to be paid for the tools. Your list covers the ground fairly well, but I think one could safely add the following: (15) Spare condensor. (16) Coil (17) Ballast resistance It may be that there is a spare coil on the car. And what about platinum points? Are they also in existence on the car? If not I think some should be put into the kit. The rest of your memo sets out very clearly the proposed method of handling the tool kit problem on forthcoming production and seems to me to be very satisfactory. Again apologising for the delay in answering you, Yours sincerely, [Signature] | ||
