1020a Experimental Dept., Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}16/ML. 29th. Feb: 1940. Wellworthy Piston Rings.Ltd., Lymington, Hants. For the attention of Mr. Howlett. Dear Sirs, Further to our previous correspondence on the matter of Alum-tin bearings to go straight into an engine for test, without further attention. These are the details of the engine:- Crankshaft-pin dia. = 1.9985/1.999 Con.-rod housing = 2.142/2.1425. We would like flangeless bearings, the width to be 1.130/1.140. For every pair of bearings, one half to have a hole centrally spaced; for a spigot .250 + 1/2 dia. and the other half to be plain. (No hole.) Clearance - .00225. We would like to know how soon you can supply a dozen such bearings, and to have any comments on the proposed set-up. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS ROYCE. LTD., | ||
