contd :- -2- while passing through the hot spot but at the moment we do not see why that part of the hot spot near the water inlet should be cooler than that near the outlet in the water heated test. The temperature over the outer surface of the hot spot was found to vary considerably at different points which makes comparison with previous tests unreliable. Such a lot depends upon the position of the thermometer. These two tests afford a direct comparison because the same hot spot was used in each case. The results therefore shew that there is promise that we shall be able to obtain quick heating up from the water if the capacity is reduced to the minimum and a brisk circulation ensured through the hot spot. We are continuing these experiments and hope to supply fuller information in a day or so. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/A.C.Lovesey. | ||
