Dear "Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}",

Many thanks for the loan of the 25 HP car during my holiday which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I must apologise for having taken the car to London, but arranged for Crawford to drive it back to DERBY, and charge any expense to my account.

Unfortunately I lost my papers which showed the record of the mileage run by me, but as "Tr{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}" wants this mileage for insurance purposes, I wonder if you have a record of the mileage done by the car when I left Derby, and of the distance run when the car returned to the Works.

I should be much obliged if you could let me have this information so that I can answer Tr{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}'s request.

I do not know what the rule is at present re the petrol and oil used when running experimental cars. I have kept all the petrol and oil bills, and if it is usual for these expenses to be refunded, I will send the vouchers along.

I shall be sending a report on the running of the car in the course of a few days.

Yours sincerely,
W. Hallam
Dr.
