COPY. S/W EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} LE2/C.1.6.33. re. D.W.S. Jacks. 40/50 HP. Chassis. As you are doubtless aware, there have been several complaints regarding the brackets turning on the rear axle and apparently the little keeper which butts under the spring carrier plate is not strong enough. Today a car came to Lillie Hall, 120-MY, Selincourt, and the chauffeur complained that he had had this trouble. I ascertained from "N" that they had not brackets in stock, so I loaned him a Jack. Will you please let me have a couple of these down as soon as possible, and I will arrange to have them fitted. As this is an inherent defect, perhaps you will be good enough to take it up with the Experimental Dept. There is another point regarding these Jacks, and that is that unless a Jack is screwed right home by means of the handle, there appears to be a likelihood of it working down on the road. You will recollect that we had similar trouble with the Jenks Jacks and eventually got them to put a positive locking scheme on these. (Sgd). J.L.E. | ||
