EXHAUST VALVES.

Replying to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}19/E2.9.30.

We do not propose to be pushed into any alteration of exhaust valves.

R.{Sir Henry Royce} pressed us to use Ostenetic Steel which landed us into trouble and a considerable amount of scrap.

We do not remember ever having a case either on a car engine or an 'F' engine of trouble with the exhaust valves, except the one reported on 24-EX.

In view of the excellent record of exhaust valves we shall want to do many 10,000 miles before we are satisfied with any new design.
