To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} No. 4/J.S.9.30. YS2 30 X.4011. X.4488. X.7230. X.5230. EXHAUST VALVES. Replying to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}19/E2.9.30. We do not propose to be pushed into any alteration of exhaust valves. R.{Sir Henry Royce} pressed us to use Ostenetic Steel which landed us into trouble and a considerable amount of scrap. We do not remember ever having a case either on a car engine or an 'F' engine of trouble with the exhaust valves, except the one reported on 24-EX. In view of the excellent record of exhaust valves we shall want to do many 10,000 miles before we are satisfied with any new design. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
